Charcoal – soft and medium

Sketch Pad – at least 12x16

Kneaded Eraser

Toned Wood Palette (no white paper palettes, please. Glass palettes are acceptable with a mid tone gray paper backing. Wood palette may be stained with a mid value wood stain. Remember to use poly-urethane to seal the finish.)

My oil palette (most any brand is acceptable) –

Titanium White
Cadmium Yellow Light
Raw Sienna
Cadmium Red Light
Cadmium Orange
Alizarin Crimson
Burnt Sienna
Burnt Umber
Cerulean Blue
French Ultramarine Blue
Sap Green
Ivory Black

Filbert Bristle Brushes (number 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10) – I use Silver Grand Prix, but any brand is acceptable.

Medium texture canvases – You will need 3 16x20 and 2 24x30. If possible, have these stained before the workshop. Shane likes to stain his a medium gray color, using a mixture of cerulean blue and burnt umber, thinned with mineral spirits. You can also use a #5 Gray acrylic paint thinned with water. Your main goal should be to tone your canvas a middle value.

A portable easel – A very limited number of easels are available. Please call Paige at 615.297.0516 to reserve one if you need it.

Paper towels or rags

Note pad and pencil (tape recorders and cameras are fine, but no video cameras, please.)

Odorless mineral spirits will be provided for you, but please bring a brush washer or container to put it in.

TV tray (no larger) to put your things on if you’d like. We do not have any tables available.
